Heart Attack: A heart attack is the leading cause of death in the India. Heart disease is a result of narrowing arteries that block blood flow to the heart. Because the symptoms of a heart attack can be misinterpreted. During a heart attack, a person usually experiences severe central chest pain, classically described as heavy or crushing sensation. The chest pain is very similar to angina pain but it is more prolonged less than 30 minutes and not relieved with rest or usual medications for angina. This condition is usually accompanied by nausea, sweating and apprehension. However, 20% to- 25% of heart attack is clinically silent.
Enlarged Heart (Cardiomegaly): When your heart, the arteries around your heart or your other blood vessels is damaged, this pumping system doesn’t work properly. Such problems are collectively known as cardiovascular disease
Irregular Heart Rhythm: These are early extra beats that originate in the atria (upper chambers of the heart). They are harmless and do not require treatment. Between the two, it is important for this symptom to be evaluated by a physician. An abnormality in the electrical conducting system of the heart can cause an irregular heartbeat. This category includes conditions such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, or paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. These irregular rhythms can often cause a very rapid heartbeat that may come and go. Electrolyte abnormalities or side effects from other medications or substances like caffeine can also cause palpitations or an irregular heartbeat
Atrial Fibrillation: The heart is made up of two upper chambers, called the atria, and two lower chambers, called the ventricles. When the atria contract, oxygen-rich blood flows into the ventricles. When the ventricles contract, blood is pumped out of the heart into the body.
There are two abnormal heart rhythm: 1) Intermittent atrial fibrillation, which is characterized by episodes that occur with varying frequency and last for a variable period of time before spontaneously stopping. 2) Chronic or persistent atrial fibrillation, which is sustained and does not usually stop spontaneously.
All these trouble some things happening to the body make some people feel very anxious. Unfortunately, lots of other conditions can cause similar symptoms. Just because you have shortness of breath or dizziness or palpitations doesn’t necessarily mean you have atrial fibrillation. Fortunately, a careful examination with a few special tests can make the diagnosis easy.
Heart Valve Disease:
Heart valve disease can be congenital, meaning it developed before birth, or it can be acquired during a patient’s lifetime. Sometimes the cause of heart valve disease is unknown.
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Swollen ankles, feet or abdomen
• Wheezing or coughing
• Fatigue or weakness
• Dizziness or fainting
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat
• Chest pain or pressure
This condition occurs when a valve does not close tightly. If the valves do not seal, blood will leak backwards across the valve. As the leak worsens, less blood flows to the body, and the heart has to work harder to compensate for the leaky valve. Depending on which valve is affected, the condition is called: tricuspid regurgitation, pulmonary regurgitation, mitral regurgitation, or aortic regurgitation
Marfan Syndrome: Marfan syndrome is caused by defects in a gene called fibrillin-1. Fibrillin-1 plays an important role as the building block for connective tissue in the body.
Marfan syndrome affects males and females equally, and appears to be distributed equally among all races and ethnic groups. The more invisible symptoms occur in the heart and blood. Your aorta, the blood vessel that transports blood from the heart, may become enlarged. An enlarged aorta may cause no symptoms. However, it carries the risk of a life-threatening rupture.
Benefit to heart Surgery in India:
• Smaller incisions with minimal scarring
• Less trauma to the patient, including less pain
• Shorter hospital stay (usually 3 to 4 days)
• Decreased use of pain medications
• Less bleeding
• Decreased risk of infection
• Shorter recovery and quicker return to daily and professional activities: The patient can resume normal activities and work as soon as he or she feels up to it
