We are unanimous in our condemnation of racism as contrary to the heart of God and the clear teaching of scripture. There is no verse in the Bible that says, “Thou shalt not be racist.” That said, mistreating others because of their race is utterly inconsistent with the message of Scripture. Genesis says that human beings are created in the image of God. James says that curses against people are evil because people are created in God’s image.
The Bible consistently teaches the universal problem of sinner human hearts. The Bible makes it clear that racism is wrong and entirely contradictory to God’s command to love our peoples, that is unconditional love, and the teachings of Jesus.
