Job Description for CDL Class A Vacancy in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, US
Immediate opening for a SOLO Class A CDL Truck Driver and we want the right Trucker to join us at Ryder in Perth Amboy NJ.

Driver Positions Pay Weekly
Hourly Pay: $27.00 Per Hour
Hours Per Week: 20-24 hours a week
Solo Miles Pay: $.64 per Mile with 1900 Miles per Week
1-2 Stops a day
Unload Pay: $54.00 per day
Paid Training
Schedule: 7 Day a Week Operation – Thursday & Friday (maybe more days)
Start Time: 3:30a – 7:30a Dispatch Window (9 – 10 hours per shift)
Trucks are three years or newer. Ryder Drivers Service the Route, not the Truck. All Drivers have 24/7 Roadside Maintenance by a Ryder Trained Technician plus Service Employees fuel up our trucks at all 800+ Maintenance Facilities.
Deliver SOLO To: Manhattan, MA and PA
Route: Local Home Daily
Tractor Type: Day Cab
Able to Accommodate Auto Only Restrictions
Trailer Type: Dry Van 28’, 48′ and 53’
Equipment: Pallet Jack and Lift Gate
Ryder will Train you on all equipment needed to be successful
Freight: Touch – Retail Goods
Job Responsibilities for CDL Class A Role:
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
- Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards Maintaining accurate records and logs
- Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
Job Requirements, Required Skills & Educational Qualifications
To be considered for this role of CDL Class A, you need to meet the following requirements:
Required skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
- Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
- 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
- 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
- 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
